Change your work-life balance
National Cycle to Work Day
Thursday 6th August was National Cycle to Work Day. Though life seemed to be getting back to something approaching normal the roads were still quiet as schools were on holiday and many people were still opting to work from home so this seemed like the ideal opportunity to give cycling to work a go. As Wayne Clarke, Insync Bikes Sales Director, said back then “Cycle to Work Day is especially important this year as it can give people confidence to commute by bike for the first time.”
If there was a good take-up for National Cycle to Work Day at your place of work why not think about extending this?
A team away day is a great opportunity to get everyone on a bike and, in my experience, much more fun than most “team-building” days. I once attended one at an outdoor bowling green on the hottest day of the year. By midday the café had run out of cold drinks, my colleague, who had previously broken her leg, got tipped out of her wheelchair and another colleague’s guide dog inexplicably won the bowling match.
A much better idea would be to organise a team ride (cycling is a perfect activity for social distancing requirements) followed by a meet at your local pub, restaurant, picnic area. Make sure everyone has a cycling helmet and don’t forget a head camera as posting videos and stills on your company’s social media platforms is a great way to show your customers and contacts what a fantastic team they are working with.
